It won't turn on! It just wouldn't turn on last time I came to use it.

When it's plugged in, the power light on the power button lights, as does the power light on the front edge of the laptop. But, after about 4 seconds, both lights cut off. After they cut off, the battery light on the front edge blinks just once (even when battery is not connected).

Nothing powers up during those 4 seconds. No hard drive sound, no fan on the mboard, etc. Just the lights.

When just the battery is plugged in, the light on the power button does not light up, only the power light on the front edge (and again for just 4 seconds).

Battery is full power. I tried with and without battery, with plug alone. Also tried unplugging and removing battery and holding power button for 30 seconds. Still nothing. Any ideas?

Also, already tried reseating memory, using none, just one stick, then the other stick, and still the same light response!

I just posted this and you offered advice:

Any ideas?

Can you tell me, is it possibly a power supply or power spike issue? or definitely a motherboard issue?

    Thanks!

It sounds like what happened to me before I had to have a tech come out and replace my board. Do you have any warranty left ? Have you contacted Dell yet ? Does the power adapter make any kind of noise ? Have you checked the connections on the power adapter ?

We should really try to keep this all in one thread. Mods don't like cross posting :)

Good point. The poster is quite new; they might not know how to track their own threads

Probably..but I think they will be merged..2 threads on the same subject and running *next to each other* is confusing.

    Cin ;) :)
