Ok so I was watching something on youtube when I noticed a small dust-like spot/dot on the screen and i tried cleaning it off but it wouldn't go away. It looks to be inside the screen (if that makes any sense) and is evident when there is a black background/or when the comp is off. So my question to you is 1) what am i looking at?
    2) Can i get rid of it?
    3) Do other people here a have similar issue?

Advice would be appreciated. Thanks :)

    dead or stuck pixel?

there are programs that try to unstick the pixel but it may or may not work. pretty normal to have one or two on a screen, but that doesn't make it any less annoying

i don't know how many need to be bad for dell to replace the screen, i think it is 3, but i would have a tech come out to replace the screen if it is under warranty

The OP is saying that the defect is visible with the computer off, so it cannot be a stuck pixel. It's most likely a spec of dust -- I'd call Dell and have them replace the screen.

well, i personally have had terrible luck with depot, seriously shoddy workmanship and something is always missing/broken/scratched.... but if that is your only option i guess it is what you have to do. i would recommend upgrading your warranty, max it out and get complete care... the cost may seem prohibitive, but unfortunately with a dell you will almost certainly get your moneys worth. every laptop i have owned from dell has been replaced at least once and has had to be worked on constantly. but i am extremely picky and anything wrong i have replaced immediately if possible, and i know how to work the dell system from experience. i have owned other brands and dell still with all the bs you have to put up with has the best warranty. i am not dell bashing at all just telling you my personal experiences.

regardless of the defect, the result is the same, it needs to be replaced

I had what I thought was a dead pixel on my screen aswell. But it was actually some dust. It was there the first time I booted it so it shipped liked that from the factory. After 3 days I started getting more and more "dead pixels". The screen must had some defect and wasnt sealed correctly. Anyways, I called dell and they replaced it, no discussion.

yeah they r doing the same with me. the dust specs are inside and they are about 3 of them and they are distinct. there are some around the edges as well. so im thinking mine wasn't sealed properly either. anyways i have to send it to depot. did u get yours done through depot return or on tech support?
