So my LED screen (1440x900 resolution) on my XPS M1530 has a crack in it which has destroyed the entire thing, so I need to repair it. I saw the great screen replacement walkthrough on here which gave me the idea to just go ahead and try to fix it myself. I had a few questions before getting started.
1) Can I replace the broken LED screen with an LCD screen of a different (possibly lesser) resolution?
2) Where is the best place to get a screen? I have checked EBay and see some LCD screens for $100 or less (only 1280x800 res).
3) Most of the screens on EBay stress that an inverter is not included. Is this something I would need if I am just replacing the screen?
Thanks in advance for all helpful comments.

Basically it is possible. But I don't think there is a standard connector between LCD and Motherboard so you have to watch out to get an replacement that fits correctly. Best would be an original Dell screen. No warranty left?
You can get the original Dell parts via Dell or e.g. here Parts-People Dell Laptop Parts & Dell Laptop Repair Service -
If the LED from an E6500 is the same size i have one in 1440,
contact me and i can take pics front and back -
