I hate that i updated my bios cause now if the gpu gets hot enough my computer just shuts down, and i got screwed over with it when i was playing WoW,

Is there anyway i could disable this god awful feature, I like to play games on my bed without having to put the stupid cooling pads underneath it, and now i cant cause the computer shuts off and closes all my work in the background.

If there is anyway i could disable this, please help.

just so you know, the computer is programmed to shut down to prevent damage to itself.

Your gonna need Dell to check it out for you.

It shouldnt be overheating to that point.

put it on your bed block all vents pour some gasoline over it and ask why it wont boot while on fire, is there a way to enable on fire boot ?

the above comment contains sarcasm, advise you local dictionary for details.

Uh oh.... I personally think the laptop is better off with a cooler while gaming, mate! And of course, on your bed, with all vents blocked, it is going to get hot, and shutting down I think might be a builtin mechanism to prevent your laptop (and probably your bed and yourself) from frying up!!!

Try with a cooler and see if it still does the same.

Having said that, why does it reach such high temperatures? are you monitoring your laptop temperatures?

u should really consider gettin a fanless coolin pad/dock. pretty inexpensive and helps keep yur laptop even cooler than a solid flat surface.

    ie: somethin along these lines

Well... DUH! Don't play it on your bed!!! Your cutting off the air flow doing that as the fan breathes in at the bottom.
NEVER use your notebook on any soft surfaces such as beds, couches etc.

Yeah, its a safety measure. It is not possible to disable it as the BIOS does not give you any options. Unless of course you are able to get help from dell and get a modified bios or program one that does disables the emergency shutdown feature.... which is very unlikely. Imagine how crazy people would be if everyone decided to burn out their computers just to get a replacement, or claim DOA... or "it was burnt out when i first got it"... No such BIOS exists, so your just going to either have to take advantage of warranty or replace it.

You can play on your bed without cooling pads on it, except you just have a defective GPU. Cooling system might not even be able to help it. It might give you a few more seconds but... your not going to be able to get very far.

I like to play on the Bed, and if it breaks i get a new laptop from warranty, so i could care less about it breaking. This laptop is really annoying me anyways cause it has a dead pixel and the touchpad every few hours for about 30 secs gets really messed up and stuck (like the problem people have closing the lid and having the touchpad problem, except mine does it randomly by itself when im surfing the web)

And i already have one of those pads from thermoltake thats fanless, but its annoying using it.

Is there anyway i could roll back to the A08 bios, and is the emergancy shut off temp for the GPU or CPU temp?

Yeah, you can flash back to the A08 bios, though there is no emergency shut off temp for anything. Like I said, all that is controlled through the bios, and Dell is definitely not going to allow such a feature to come up for possible reasons I've stated above. Dell is the only one who can add that functionality, but they won't because... its meant to protect you.
