I am making a purchase RIGHT NOW!!

I have two refurb laptops in my cart, both t8300's.

one has the x3100, the other has the 8400M.

I will be watching lots of vids on this bad boy, hardly any 3D work though.

Would like the 8400 M if the battery life drain can easily be reduced 90% of the time because 90% of the time i will have no use for it. But if i can't i'd rather just get the x3100.

I dont want to get more battery life on the 8400M by bringing down the voltage of my processor either.

Please help, QUICK!! need to purchase in the next hour.

Only using a 6cell batt btw!

    THANK YOU!!

Get the 8400M, especially if you are watching high def videos (GPU video acceleration). Plus, it is DX10 and just runs better than that worthless X3100 piece of junk.

Onboard vs dedicated isn't more so a decision as it is a rhetoric.

vids u dont really need a video card, unless ur running 1080p HD video files, but your processor is good enough to decode it anyways

just a reminder, there may be overheating problesm with the 8400 graphics card with m1330

thank you paper wastage, i just ordered the same setup as yours except with a 320 gb hard drive but kept the 1 year warranty only.

    isn't it greatt???

btw i used the 156.69 drivers for the 8400 and it runs about 6-10 degrees C cooler. it idles at about 53-57 now instead of 63-67 when i used it with the original drivers.

shaba if youre not in a really big hurry I would say hold off on the XPS for atleast now...a new refreshed M1330 or M1530 is on its way which includes new intel Centrino 2.. I know I am waiting for it (prob get it till mid august) it just prevents buyers remorse even if you dont need the additional "upgrade" it brings =D

cant remember which, but there's a certain 8400 driver that reports GPU temperatures 10degrees below what its supposed to be... just letting u know :)

(to check: if the GPU temp is lower than CPU temp after a stress test, then....)

Get the 8400M, play some games do some benchmarks, if they fall out of place, then its most likely defective which doesnt matter since you can exchange anyways. Secure one today at all costs while you still can!
