    Hi. I need help.
    I got a XPS M1730 with Dual 9800GT.
It is a great computer and I love it.
However, When I run HWmonitor, I get 73-76F at idle. And It has been running very hot..
I had this laptop for about a week and it's always like that.
So, I looked underneath the laptop and seems like the two GPU fans are not spinning at all.
Is this normal or something wrong with my unit?
Do I have to open it up and check the fan cable? Or is it something wrong with the bios? Only thing I did to this laptop is update the driver to nvidia's 185.85
Back of the laptop is so hot that I can't touch it with my hand..

So, is it normal to be in mid 70s during idle?
That's kind of high temperature isn't it?
So, If I play games, fans will spin? I haven't tried anything yet except playing movies..
    Thank you for your help.

Try & lift up the rear or the laptop, put a bottle cap there or something, that helps with air flow...Normally until 75'c, two of the GPU fans dont kick in.

Then download 185.85 from nvidia. That driver allows auto downclocking when your GPUs are in windows. Remember to clean install the driver.

70 idle is a bit high... but only if you mean 70 C. Your first post mentions 73 to 76 F, which is roughly 21 to 22 C, which is insanely low. So yeah, are you reporting C or F?

Sorry, It is mid 70c. Thank you for correcting that.
I ran 3dmark06 and finally fans spinned at last.
The temperature was over 80c when fans started to work..
Funny how the fans don't even move while watching movies or browse the internet or do other kind of tasks other than gaming,,
Would applying AS5 would lower the temperature on these GPUS?
    Thank you,
By the way I love everything about this XPS. Beautiful design and awesome lighting effects, and illuminated keyboard.
    :)
