ok, this is a little strange...

I ordered a custom build of XPS M1330 on Friday afternoon UK time (with 320 GB 7200 rpm HDD that's not available on the uk website)...

On Saturday it was in shipping status.
This morning they would have delivered it had it not been a bank holiday...

Now, they told me it would be 7 to 10 WORKING days (so 8th September) to receive my new laptop...

    • XPS M1330 CORE 2 DUO T9300 2.50GHz,800,6M
    • 13.3" WXGA (1280x800) White-LED Display with TrueLife
    • Midnight Blue & 0.3 mega pixel Camera for White-LED Display
    • Memory Dual Channel 4.0GB (2x2048) 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
    • Hard Drive: 320GB Free Fall Sensor (7200RPM)
    • 8xDVD+/-RW Slim Slot-Load Drive, including SW
    • 128 MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
    • Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy ADVANCED HD Audio
    • TV Tuner- AVerMedia AVerTV Hybrid NanoExpress DVB-T
    • European - Dell TrueMobile 355 internal Bluetooth Module
    • Intel® Next-Gen Wireless-N Mini-PCI Card, EUR
    • Internal Dell Wireless 5520 built-in 3G/HSDPA with SIM
    • English Genuine Windows Vista SP1 Ultimate including Media
    • English Microsoft Office 2007 Home + Student
    • 3Yr XPS Premium Warranty Support - Priority Call In and Onsite Support
    • 3Yr Accidental Damage Support 1

Now of course I am paranoid that they found a refurbished one and have sent that...

If not, and it's a genuine new build in less than 18 hours, then - WOW !

any thoughts to put my mind at rest?

    Philip

Unless you ordered from Dell Outlet I HIGHLY doubt they would send you a refurbished system?? I suggest you thoroughly inspect it when it comes in and any minute scratch/dent/imperfection/anything return it if you really think it could be the case. Maybe someone ordered the same/near same setup as you and decided to cancel their order right before you put yours in so they had it in the factory ready to go haha But really, they shouldn't/wouldn't/couldn't send you a refurbished system if it wasn't from the outlet.

In that case I'm gonna be very happy :)

When they said 'expedited' I thought maybe a 10 days, not 10 hours :)

A refurb will have a green sticker on the bottom indicating that it is a refurb. Congrats on your quick turn around time. Like others had said, it is probably a system someone canceled right before shipping and so they had it built already.

No, just trying out all the flags... the one I really want to find is Iran or North Korea or Cuba - Axis of Evil = Not allowed to buy Dell or MS Windows :)

Just trying out all the flags... I'm really looking for the Axis Of Evil ones to confuse the FBI about illegal Tech exports :)

Well - should be delivered today or tomorrow - then I'll be returning to the UK on Friday for a week (which is when I'll see it), so I'll have time to configure it, install programs, image it, then boot and nuke my 30 month old 9400 for sale...

    Same here,

Ordered by XPS M1330 yesterday, today it's ready to be shipped. I hope I'll get it before the weekend :)

I don't think it's either refurbished or someone else's cancelled order. If they happen to have all the components available, they can assemble them pretty quickly.

    Isn't that done in Poland?

I got a confirmation e-mail that it'll arrive this Thursday, and I have a UPS tracking number so I can keep an eye on it as it comes in from Poland.
