Today I went to the Best Buy for the first time in about 6 weeks. WOW was I ever stunned. More laptops, makes and models than my BB has ever had.
What floored me was when they finally had the 1330 and the 1530. The shock to me was how the XPS Felt!! I have always liked the heavy, solid, metallic feel of the XPS line. To me it felt more substantial and heavier than the rest of the line. Well today they all were real feather weights. I was very disappointed. When asking the Best Buy person what happened he said it is tne NEW XPS line which all feel like super light weight plastic.
So, what's going on? Is this true that this is some new light version of the XPS? If so, is the build quality still good, or has it slipped?
Any and all thoughts on this are appreciated.![]()

I think he is lying... I think he is talking about the Studio line.

The XPS 1330 and the 1530 have been out for quite a long time. I believe that the "newest" line of Dell laptops is the "Studio" line.

You know what really confused me is that they both had the letters XPS on them. I wonder if I was just imaging things. I'll have to take a second look.

I don't know, maybe it was a sort of "beta" to see what the response would be to the new xps studio line. It happens all of the time, kind of like a double-blind test. They wanted to see your opinions. other than that, it might be BB's new "exclusive" XPS continuation of the line. less cost to make, but most won't tell the difference.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the XPS m1330 and m1530 some of the lightest notebooks of their size around?
I like the hefty weight in some things, but I would actually prefer a light notebook over a heavy one.
NEW XPS line? OR Just more BS at BB???
