I just did a clean install of Windows on my Dell XPS 15.
    I installed nVidia GeForce R304 Driver v. 306.23 for GeForce GT 525M.

In the installer, I specifically unchecked "NVIDIA Update", as I do not want their update services running on my laptop. In spite of that, update installed anyway and is running and created an unwanted Windows User Account.

It's ridiculous that Nvidia creates a new Windows user account, without permission, to manage its updater. There is all kinds of negative discussion about it on-line, but no one has a consistently reliable method for disabling and removing it.

So, even if you choose not to install NVIDIA Update, it installs all kinds of stuff anyway, including:

    • A Windows user account, UpdatusUser, at C:\Users\UpdatusUser
    • Nvidia Update Service Daemon, which is running in Services and set to Automatic (Delayed Start).
    • Multiple dlls and Nvidia Update and Update Common folders in the two Programs folders.

Users have been complaining about this behaviour for years, but Nvidia has not changed it.

Found this user report, as just one example of the many complaints about this:
