So without realizing it I let the warranty on my SXPS 1640 run out in February. I found out when the hard drive crashed March 1st. No big deal I know how to replace a HD and it is not worth the fight to try and get the warranty extended since I was a day past. However the next week I get the BIOS message about the AC Adapter is not recognized on boot.
After doing research for 2 weeks now I know it could be 1 of 3 things, battery, adapter, or motherboard. This makes me sick at my stomach. I have been a loyal Dell customer for 5 years and I finally get a lemon.
So what would the community suggest I do? Try to fix it or cut my losses and buy a different laptop? What is the first thing I should get? (130W power supply)
Thanks for your advice and help
Nate

I just got that message after I held down the power button on boot up, so I could go back and change a bios setting....
Do you get it constantly? It went away for me.... just a glitch?! -

Well the only number I can get is the one they want to charge me because the lap top is out of warranty. Do you have a way to contact them without getting charged?
Need advice about my 1640
