If you have any doubts and the notebook is still within the 21 day window for Dell returns I would return it. You will have a very hard time selling a notebook that cost that much money.

I have a MacBook Pro 17" with Windows XP installed and so far I like it a lot.
I just ordered a Dell XPS 1730 during the sale for $2026. I am going to compare it with the MacBook and see which I prefer.

I didn't pay for it. It was actually a replacement for my inspiron 9400. Tech support messed up pretty bad and they offered me the M1730 with all the options I wanted.

true but yours is obsolete with a 9300. This has the new X9000 2.8 overclockable to 3.4 45nm instead of the 65nm and the new Nvidia 8800, the older ones were pretty much all defective. Plus all the extras: blu-ray burner, VZ data card. The 8800, Blu-ray burner and data card options alone total about $2k not to mention the extra batteries at $299each, Backpack at $140 extra power adapter and so on. All you need to do is go to the site configure it and it comes up. I personally would never pay that much as I am not a gamer.

Can you take pictures of all the beauties? I'm just curious as to what all the extras look like

True it is misleading but I didn't want to say that is was free. It all depends on how tech support handles the situation and if it is unacceptable then you need to find out who to call to get it rectified. When I spoke to who I needed to and they checked the notes they told me the system should have been replaced a while ago. The replacement for the 9400 is a M1730 as they are not making the 1721 any longer. Due to the time it took away from my business and the frustration they agreed to build me a 1730 with the options I wanted. Pretty easy, it's all about communication.

All you need to do to see pictures is go to Dell.com and lookup the products.

i don't really understand why the topic creator is so hostile. how the heck are we supposed to know if you should sell it and get a mac or not, isn't this more of a question of an OS than a question for us?

If you aren't a gamer, I wouldn't keep it. I had a M1730 for a brief while and it was a beast and really not what I needed.

I'm not hostile at all. I was merely answering questions. All I wanted to know is if anyone has experience with the Macbook pro in comparision to what I have. I did not post it for sale. I was just posting information.

    I just wanted honest opinions.

i think the most honest opinion would be to ask somewhere besides a Dell board as people here are more likely have Dell XPS experience rather then Macbook Pro experience

My main concern is that I love the system but I would like to know if anyone has traveled with the system. If really that hard to carry it through an airport..

Great. That is my main concern as it weighs about 14lbs with everything in the backpack. I have the extra battery because I read battery life is less than 1h 30min.

Never had any real issues with airports, only one ever questioned the weight, and when I showed them it was a single laptop they let it through.

Great. How about carrying it, did it strain your back or anything? Also are you getting more than 1hr 30min of battery life?
