I’m just about to order one Dell XPS M1710 but first I would like to sort out some questions I have. I list them below and hope for some advanced users to share some knowledge.

    1. 5.1 Sound
I can not find more then one headphone plug and one MIC-in contact but on DELL they say this:
“Assault your ears as well as your eyes. In addition to 17-inches of NVIDIA® -powered viewing, the XPS M1710 offers on-board audio with an integrated subwoofer. Enjoy music, movies and the sound of your gaming competition weeping in defeat with stunning high-definition audio clarity. And, with 5.1 audio and Component Video CONNECTORS, the M1710 can easily integrate into your home theatre environment, becoming a hub for your entertainment needs.”
They say 5.1 connectors? Are they by this referring to the S-Video connector? If so can someone please tell me what adapter I need to use this as my standard output for all sounds on my computer. I would like to use my 5.1 headphones without having to use a external soundcard.

    2. Road ready
Are there any functional differences in the chassis for Inspiron 9400 and M1710 except from the lights and colors. I have read in some reviews that 9400 has some really loud fans but in the M1710 reviews they say that the fans are very quit. I have the impression that they are built on the exact same chassis but is this really the case? Are there any differences in the road ready implementations between 9400 and M1710?

    3. Dual-DVI for dell 30” LCD
I’m using a Dell 30” screen at the office running it at resolution 2560x1600 this requires a DVI-D Dual-Link Compatible Graphics Card and I can’t find any information if 256 MB nVidia® GeForceTM Go 7900 GS has this. Anyone that knows from experience if this card works with this screen at the highest resolution and have DVI-D?

I’m very thankful for any information you can share with me about this.

    Best regards Fredrik
