I'm considering upgrading my wireless card from the Dell Wi-Fi 1505 card (I know it sucks) that's in my M1530 currently. I'm not sure if it's the drivers or the card itself, but sometimes I won't be able to connect to networks that I know I can connect to. Also, it seems to loses packets from time to time.

Anyways, I'm wondering if the Intel Wi-Fi 4965AGN (Intel Next Gen Wi-fi) is a worthy upgrade and I'm wondering the differences/improvements it can give? Also, I would like to know if there are any alternatives I can look to.

I have the 4965 in my M1530 and I thought it was pretty nice. But it had some problems sometimes.

My wireless router is upstairs and I mainly use my laptop downstairs. I'd randomly lose signal. I'd have to turn off my wifi and switch it back on... then my networks would reappear.

Now I have the Wifi 5300 on my SXPS 16 and it is so far flawless!

    All the best!

well, that depends on whether your wireless card's antennas were connected properly (one of the antennas on my 4965 card was broken... bad... had it replaced)

and when i did pure wireless-N, it was great... b/g mixed wasn't that good

I couldn't connect with pure Wireless-N. It had to be mixed (b/g/n). That could have been the problem. Could have had bad hardware, too. Who knows? I'm just sharing my experience with it.

I haven't been a big fan of the 4965agn on my m1330. Signal just seems incredibly weak. I'd constantly drop signal while the people next to me on Macbooks would be surfing around just fine. I'd pick up the 5300.

Thanks for the suggestions. I decided to go ahead and purchase the Intel Wireless 5300. I'm just wondering if there's any performance difference between the two versions. (One's smaller than the other)

You need to get the bigger of the two cards (full mini) and not half mini as your aerial wires will not mate up with the contacts on the smaller card.. ;)

So, I got my Intel 5300AGN today and installed it. Installation was fast and easy, but I noticed that there are bunch of other antennas. Also, I noticed that there were two other slots left? What gives?

Well, while using this card, it's been pretty good. My range has increased, but for some reason, my internet will drop even though I have connection to the router. Also, my "Wi-Fi" light will blink excessively when it's sending/recieving data. Is this normal?
