Hi, on the US site there is now an option to order the 1330 (probably the 1530 too) with 64 bit Vista premium from the get go! This means they have to support the software under warrenty whereas before they were not supporting 64 bit software. There is also an additional bonus (unless they have taken it down) whereby the 64 bit edition included the led screen under the $530 (or something like that) off offer whereas the 32 bit one does not :D.

Actually, the 64-bit option has been available on the XPS M1330 for at least two months now. However, the "Build Yours With 64-bit Power" button are a new addition to the configuration options on the main M1330 page.

Before they added those buttons, the ONLY way to get an M1330 with 64-bit Vista was to click on the "Laptops & Mini" menu on the main Dell Home page, then choose the option "Looking for 64-bit?". Choosing that link would take you to a page with three desktop models and the M1330 configured with 64-bit.

The M1330 is the only laptop shown with 64-bit available on that page. However, if you go to the Studio 15 main page, you'll see the first two configurations have a choice of "Build Yours" and "Optimized for 4GB". The latter choice defaults to the Vista Home Premium 64-bit as the only O/S. To date, only the XPS M1330 and Studio 15 are available with the 64-bit option- not even the XPS M1530 is offered with it!?

FYI- The XPS M1330 64-bit via the "Looking for 64-bit" link starts at $949 ($304 savings off $1253 reg price) and it's the BEST deal you can get on this system- http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?oc=dydotv6&c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&kc=features~64bit_pcs

    The XPS M1330 @ $949 includes-

    Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit
    2.1GHz Intel T8100
    Standard Display w/ 2.0mp Webcam
    4GB RAM
    250GB Hard Drive
    CD/DVD burner
    Intel GMA X3100 integrated graphics
    Dell 1505-N wireless adapter
    6-cell Battery
    Fingerprint Reader
    Tuxedo Black

If you start with the base $899 configuration of the M1330 on the main page, then upgrade the processor, RAM, Hard Drive, Wireless and Battery, the price ends up at $1253. It's a great deal for $949....the only option needed is the $100 nVIDIA 8400M GS graphics card!

I just got my xps m1330, i ordered it Thursday as a scratch and dent from the dell outlet, and it came with 64 bit vista premium. I went online with the tech support and they told me i had the 32 bit version; I had to send them a screen shot to get them to believe me. Their tech support is stupid, she told me that vista home premium didnt come in 64 bit (wrong).
Anyways, just confirming the 64 bit option on m1330.
Also, should i keep this version? they gave me the option of returning it and having 32 bit put on. Or she said i could do it myself and get rid of the dell backup image partition.

Thanks, allfiredup, for your information :). I just think it is cool that Dell is finally offering 64 bit officially. Now they just have to get it on their regular configuration page and I am totally happy :D. I have not done the calculation on prices but the deal you mentioned does not include the 2 year warranty with Complete Care that the deal that I found has. I guess both are good, it just depends on what type of configuration/warranty you want! Too bad they are not offering it on the 1530, that is silly considering they are pretty well identical in drivers and applications to the 1330. Hope they add it to the 15 inch's options soon.
