    Hey all,

I've been using my XPS 1645 for 4-5 years now and loved the machine. I use it for work mostly which is why I loved Windows 7. I also need a powerful machine with good/fast graphics. However, all new laptops have Windows 8.1 and though I've tried using that I feel it really does not feel smooth and fast enough for my liking. With Windows 7 I love the start menu, the taskbar for switching and I like the fact that I can have many windows on my screen and click from one to the other with 1 click.

This is one of the only reasons for me to hold off from getting the new XPS 15. Unless there is a workaround (Windows 7 on the XPS 15) and/or a way to get the complete look and feel with 8.1

Can anybody help with this and advise?

    Thanks

    S

So first off we need more details what kinda power computing are you doing and how portable do you need? Also some laptops new give the options to downgrade to W7 instead of using W8. Otherwise you will need to find a good used laptop that has W7. But if from your sig. it seems your dell studio was good but I would upgrade your RAM to max it out and which Intel processor do you have in it? Sometimes those small upgrades can improve your computing or you can upgrade your processor. I upgraded older laptops processor and ram and HDD and that upgrade does improve the computing performance. But it does look like your current laptop is pretty impressive already...so the questions is what are you looking to do???
