oh i thought i read 4 gb somewhere around the forum. not folllowing it too closely but yeah![]()
-
according to some sources, it should be released on the 23rd, but still there is no info
-
-
lol thats the general release date for the ivy bridges for most. so yeah more than likely we will hear more info about it then
-
i knew about the info, but it would be cool if the actual lappy was released then
-
Its comming - next week
-
-
I just hope it's as good as expected...
-
I hope that it is bettter than expected .
-
Well considering that the Samsung Series 7 Chronos was supposed to be a killer laptop, that the new Envy's were also supposed to be great and in the end both turned out to be a bit disappointing, I am genuinely anxious about the XPS. I do need to replace my XPS M1530!
-
yeah, I hope too that Dell will beat Samsung series 7. I am waiting for it too
-
Dell revealed Alienware 14" with updated parts, XPS15 will have less powerful gpu probably 630M or 640M but may have mSATA port and RAID0 and 16GB of ram. I think because of Alienware the spec of new XPS15 will be average. Even Lenovo who don't do high spec systems will have Y580 with 660M graphics.

is the gamut of the LCD panel is better than Studio XPS 16?
-
The leaked specs for the XPS L521X state that we're getting a W-LED backlight, so I'd expect gamut similar to the XPS 15z's or hopefully a bit better for full sRGB coverage. -
Another delay if the rumors are correct.
-
uhoh what are these rumors now?
-
The ultrabook processors aren't out yet, but the i7-3612QM was released which is rumored to be an option in the L521X.

Search Google "Intel Ivy Bridge Released" or "Intel Launched Ivy Bridge" you will find many news today. Look like Ivy Bridge has been launched.
There are also news for Ivy Bridge launch party too. -
-
Paper launch today , real aviability starts next week , we are slowly getting there
-
Performance results are disappointing ( just my opinion ) , lets hope that the power consumpton and heat results for the mobile parts its going to be better .
-
Are you talking about the XPS or the Ivy Bridge?
-
-
-
IB of course .
-
I really hope this thing has decent cooling, a decent screen, and decent battery life. It's looking pretty good so far.
-
any experts have an opinion about the release date? will it be released in the next 14 days?
-
It rumours are true. It should be available in May.
-
lauch quicker my 5-yr inspiron 6000 just broken...... i want ivy bridge xps15.... really hope that they keep R+BG screen , it sounds awosome and JBLspeaker also....
-
I would love to see a thunderbolt port on this baby.. unfortunately it seems dell hasnt committed to it at all according to news sites. Anyone know anything about if this will have thunderbolt or not?
-
But as it would be released with an i5 (even as an option...) it would be at least June, when the i5's are introduced.
So I'm afraid that it won't be within 14 days, but that's just what I think... Could be wrong (hope so)
-
-
XPS is only available with i5 & i7. These have been released already.
So, I don't think it will take that much time. But as Dell is not disclosing any information, it can take time. As if we see XPS 13 ultrabook, XPS 15z etc, these were available for more than a month before the release date.
So, lets see when it will come. -
Bad news: I just read an article that states that:
-
Reading about the issues with Ivi , i am going to stay with the Sandy i have , it is so good .
-
Now I'm curious... what issues with Ivy?
-
The only "issue" I'm aware of from reading online articles is that these chips tend to run a bit warmer than the Sandy Bridge series chips, more noticeable when overclocking them, though...
-
I've not read the early reviews yet but I'm really surprised they run warmer than Sandy Bridge! I would have thought they would would run cooler with the lower power draw etc. Interesting.
-
I need to get my daughter a laptop before July 1st a xps 14 ultrabook would be cool
-
Don't worry about the heat issues. It's an issue only with desktop users who want to overclock their CPU's to the 4.5~5.1ghz range. Anandtech explains it well.
As a tl;dr, Ivy Bridge is apparently very sensitive to voltage changes (due to the new 22nm process and optimization for low wattage use), so that overvolting causes huge increases of temperature.
On stock voltages, Ivy Bridge runs more efficiently than Sandy Bridge, so laptop users have nothing to worry about. -
So this problem there isn't for notebook processors that haven't IHS.
Sorry for English

Actually, you're spot-on. That's exactly what's going on.

I'm a little confused by the suggestion in that Digitimes article that vendors are mostly going to wait until Computex (Jun 5-9). Intel's ARK site mentions 9 different IB Mobiles (7 in the Core i7-3600 family) launching on the 29th. OEMs have long had them. They're just going to let 5 weeks go?
-
-
many of the clevo reseller's are still saying customer's will have IB laptops in hand around the 2nd week of may
-
I think I need L521X to be available for purchase soon. I just got The Witcher 2 and tried to play it on my L502X. It has handled the likes of Dragon Age II, Portal 2, and Deus Ex: Human Revolution just fine @ 1920x1080 with medium-low settings, but TW2 does not have a satisfactory framerate unless I play it at the lowest of the low settings and @ 1280x720. It looks bad. What an intensive game. I'm hoping the GPU in the L521X is good enough for a substantial improvement. If so, I can hold off on playing it.
I also looked into an M11x or M14x but those have far worse displays. Don't want to give up 1080p. And M17x+ is just too big and expensive. -
Have you tried overclocking? You can get about 10-18% more power.
