    Hi,

I was hoping that someone could help me with a lockup problem with my new L502x.

My system has been locking up right out of the box. This occurs once every 1 or 2 hours sporadically. I have to remove the power cord and battery in order to turn it off.

I have reinstalled the OS but I am continuing to experience the problem. It does not seem to happen with any rhyme or reason. I have run the dell diagnostics (which are amazingly comprehensive) from a CD but it detects no hardware issues.

    Specs are:

    - XPS L502x
    - Intel 2820QM
    - Nvidia 540M
    - 8GB Ram
    - Intel N6230
    - Soundblaster X-Fi

I am thinking that this is some sort of driver conflict issue, as the hardware seems to be sound but the fact that I can’t find others with the same issue on this forum troubles me … any ideas?

Why not return it Dell for a replacement? I'd rather exchange it vs fixing a possible lemon down the line.

I was having a similar issue with mine when I would disconnect external monitor, a Dell Tech uninstalled the graphics driver found some updated drivers on dell website and installed. At first I would still get the lockups but it woked out after a day or two after update.

    My specs:
    I-7 2720QM
    8.00 GB RAM
    GeForce GT 525M
    Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit

    Hope this helps

vmonkey, I have the same specs you do. I've had my computer for one whole day now, and haven't had any problems. Do you have LoJack installed?
