I have a new M1330 And not to be anal but the space bar seems to be very unresponsive!... It only seems to register if you hit it hard in the very middle if youhit it off center to either side it does notregister... As you cansee it makes typing difficult.. Has anyone had the same trouble... Sending it back to Dell seems overkill!... I thought maybe taking the keyboard off and lookingat the springs to see if i could loosen them up would help?.. Or maybe with use it will loosen up onits own... :(

Contact tech support and tell them your problem. They will most likely ship you a replacement keyboard without having the need to ship back the whole system. Also try using a can of compress air(their might be some debris under the key)

    I think it hates you.

The keyboard isn't too hard to remove.

I am having the same un-responsive keyboard experience. I have to really hit the space board very hard to make sure it registers. It does seem much less sensitive than any of the other keys. Did you get your situation resolved through Dell?

I have the same problem. My assumption is that it will loosen up over time and I was just going to wait it out. If there's a fix for it, I'd be interested. It would be nice if it's a DIY fix as I think that I have to use Best Buy for service.

I had the same problem. I made a post about it and got no responses. I thought it might just be me, but I tried a few models at the Dell store in North Park in Dallas and none were like mine. Got in touch with the tech department. The sent me a keyboard and that solved the problem. Definitely what you need to do.

I called BestBuy and they said that I could have Dell fix it or I could bring it into BestBuy and they would take care of it. BestBuy said that they would most likely just send it out to Dell to fix which means that I'm without my machine for a week. I'll have to go fetch the machine (it's at my son's place) and dig out the receipt and bring it in. I think that it is a wonderful machine but I hate losing the use of a machine for repairs. Fortunately I don't need it in the near-term.

Sending it back to Dell would be a waste for this easy DIY fix.

Even worse is Best Buy - everyone there (including their "Geek Squad") is completely clueless.

My M1330 ships in a little over a week (hopefully sooner) and I'll keep an eye out for the keyboard issue.

I can replace the keyboard by myself but someone would have to send me one and I don't know if Dell will do that.

They're pretty cheap on eBay, the keyboards. You could get the black vostro one, looks sick in the M1330.

Call them and find out. It seems that they will ship out replacement parts to you if you have a legitimate defect.

I've never dealt with them on something like this but reading all the other posts seems like Dell will do it.

They shipped me a disk and a return package for the wrong size disk back in 2000 and that worked out. They also sent me two network cards that fried (turned out to be my fault). Other than that, I've never had anything break in 8 years of Dell notebooks. I'll give them a call once I get my notebook as I'll need the service tag number.

You shouldn't have to suffer with a sticky key.

Once I get to the UK I'm gonna order the black one, better prices at dell.co.uk than here :).

Called Dell, they told me to send it to Best Buy. I brought it in, Geek Squad person took it in the back and adjusted the space bar. Spaces were better. If you hit it dead center. Anywhere else and no space. So they're going to ship it somewhere to fix it - hopefully replacing the keyboard.

It is good to know that I am not alone on this issue. The only problem reservation I have is that I bought mine from ebay, so, BestBuy is definitely not an option for me. I guess I'll have to try contacting Dell and hopefully they will send me a replacement keyboard (only if they honor my warranty request in the first place).

They repaired it with a new KB which works great.
