Sorry this was posted in the other forum and should have been here:

    Hello,

I have the GeForce 8600 and wish to update to the new Nvidia drivers that came out that other day on the 23rd..except that Dell does not support anything except their own drivers of their website (which is dated November 2007!).

Is there any way to put these newest drivers on the computer from Nvidia without messing up the laptop?

    Thanks so much.

btw, go to laptopvideo2go.com and download the drivers suggested by the people at NBR. nothing rly bad can happen from downloading a bad driver except a BSOD but even so most of LV2G's drivers are top notch.

If you don't want to use modified drivers, Dell does have 174.31 from 4/08 on their site.

177.39 is probably the best driver out right now.

with 177 series and the latest 175.19 (older then 177.39) you get re-done shaders which improove game load times and higher FPS.
