Which route should I take for my new SXPS 16 - Clean install Vista from scratch along with all the drivers and programs I want or just uninstall the stuff that I don't want? Thanks.

A clean installation is always better.

Agree with HerrKaputt. I did the same in my M1730.

Clean Install. Not that hard, and then I set it up the way I want it.

I just removed the bloatware; took about 1/2 hr at most... compared to my VAIO TZ which took 2 hrs. There really isnt much bloat, imo.

Do you remember what you ended up uninstalling/removing?

I took off the Dell Dock (i just use the quick launch), MS Works, anti-virus trial, and a couple of other things i think. Its seriously not that much.

In comparison, my TZ which i reinstalled Vista this past weekend..literally took 2 hrs, because it came with tons of trial software, preinstalled shortcuts, etc.. it was a mess. The Dell was 10x easier. The Toshiba i had a few years back was in between interms of bloatware.

If there is a performance difference, i dont know what it would be as i rarely max out my RAM or CPU. Although, kuods to Dell, they make it easy to clean install.

Did you leave the 2nd partition that Dell uses or did you delete that as well?

And what is the benefit of that second partition if your not watching movies outside of windows!?
