I was in the middle of gathering drivers to upgrade to Vista 64bit, and see that Dell has just posted A10 firmware for the M1330 this morning!

At last, no more frozen keyboard and mouse when you press the optical drive eject button!

Also lists enhancement for resuming from S3. I never had any problem putting my M1330 to sleep - haven't restarted the OS for a LONG time until I updated the firmware this morning.

does it work with 1530? Anyone tried it yet on 1530? I'm tired of the mouse/keyboard freezing after pressing the eject bottom...

Who in their right mind would risk bricking their newer 1530 with the older 1330's firmware?!

They only use the same gear upto a point you know... It doesn't just shrink in the wash! :p :)

BIOS updates are made for specific machines only and can not be applied to any others.

    Two questions:
    1. If I'm not having any problems, should I stick with the bios I currently have? (Laptop is about a week old)
    2. How hard is it to do a bios update?

    Thanks

I just updated. It is nice that the eject issue is FINALLY resolved. Nice to have a better functioning notebook. Not that it wasn't functioning well enough already.

Shel, I would recommend the upgrade. I haven't seen anything yet that decreases functionality, so it should be good for the eject system freeze fix. Installing it is as easy as:
    1. Downloading the M1330A10.EXE file from the Dell support site
    2. Close all apps you have open
    3. Double-click the M1330A10.EXE file and tell it to install BIOS A10. The computer will restart and it will be done.

Note: When the computer restarts, the Dell boot screen will take a minute or so longer to finish than it usually does. Don't worry and just let it do its thing.

regarding the boot into windows i am of no help, i used the tweak xp program to do the ultra fast boots now my machine starts up really fast - O recently done a format tho so that has to be considered.

As of Vista SP1 you shouldnt get the RC (Relesase Candiate) as the finished Service pack has been released - downloaded directly from microsoft, dont have the link on me but google is your friend
