I was originally going to buy an M1530, but people have been telling me that it is due for an update, and to wait a few months until the "new model" comes out. Anyone know if this is true?

I have not seen anything about new ones. If one does come out I would not expect it till summer of 2009

my wife has one and she hates it, many issues with it and getting help from the support in India is just awful. I would avoid, she uses an Lenovo Idea Pad y530 for her work and that unit is awesome and solid.

No news about an update for the M1530 from Dell yet. If there is, it'll be hard to sell mine sometime next year. :p

What's really so bad about it? I haven't heard much except for the grainy screen...

I think those pictures of the Studio XPS 13 / 16 might be fake...

But if they aren't, thank you!

Hey, I have the 1530...I really cannot say anything bad about it.
Well, sometimes the *touchpad* annoys me. But you can blame that on user error.

I have had the 1530 for about 10 months, and it has proved to be very reliable for me. I had one problem with it several months ago, but that has since been fixed.

As long as it continues to power up for me, the screen view is a fantastic as it always is, runs fast ~ I'm good to go with my 1530 :D

I think it depends on each individual, on what opinions you are going to hear on the 1530! ;) (But, I feel most will be positive).

Oh, and there seems to be some good deals right now on the 1530 at dell.com (w/coupon), and at the Dell Outlet. If you were interested! :D

    Cin ;) :)

The Monteniva platform was launched a few months ago, and most manufacturers released notebooks almost immediately. The fact that the XPS range hasn't been updated puts Dell a step behind, especially going in to the holiday season.

So I would definitely 'expect' new XPS models very soon, and I think most rumours agree with that. But whether they actually do ship or not is another question...I guess we will have to wait and see.

Most people dropping big bucks on a laptop are the kind of people who want 'the latest thing' so I can definitely understand why people would not buy the current M1530, it is at the end of its life-cycle in the current form.

I just found out new XPS models are coming out in 1.5 to 3 years, although I'm guessing at least something similar to an XPS level laptop will come sooner.

EDIT: I meant to say 1.5 to 3 months LOL

Read the studio threads - the xps line is being faded out (is already, really..)

I just realized that I accidentally said years instead of months LOL.
