My two week old XPS has already had some hiccups... Well actually only one. While I was ripping all my music CD's onto my external HDD's (in expectation of my MP3 player arriving soon), after say 5-6 CD's the drive would "dissapear." So the computer didn't recognize and CD drives. I updated it to the newest driver listed on Dell's website(it is the slot load drive) and that didnt help. As of right now this isnt a big deal as the computer reboots alot faster than my Toshiba did, but I am worried that this might become more frequent. Anyone else have or experience this?

    Hey there!

First, sorry for your troubles on your new 1530!...Fortunately, I haven't ran into this problem on my 1530! :)

If it is working out for you now...and you are worried about it becoming a potential frequency...You may want to give Dell a call! Do you have Onsite Service? ;)

That's awesome that your 1530 reboots faster than your Toshiba! Mine boot up pretty fast also ~ thats one of the reasons I like my 1530!!! ;) :)

    Good luck,

    Cin ;) :)

So you still have the issue with the CD drive? The drive still disappears?

If this isn't a big deal or a problem, then I am sorry but what is the problem?????? I didn't quiet get it...

Yes I still have this problem, atleast after ripping a bunch of CD's. But I don't do that very often and a quick reboot fixes it, so the urgency is really there.

I guess he didn't actually say it but but it seemed pretty straight forward to me, his CD drive disappears and he said it wasn't a big problem because it didn't take long to reboot which would normally always fix a problem like that. I have the same problem with my desktop that I built myself. It doesn't happen nearly as often as that but occasionally my DVD drive disappears and i have to reboot.

You can fix that problem in Vista (me Ultimate) by going to "Devices" and refreshing the devices, no need to reboot. I wish there was a fix...but there is none. Also in Windows 7 RTM (7100) it does not happen.
