New XPS M1530 arrived today. I've seen one or two questions like my first here, but no real answers. Hoping someone has perspective to add.

I wanted to return it within 1 hour because of the touchpad inlcuding the scrolling bars. Of all things, I never would have guessed this would be my issue.
I find the touchpad intolerable. Weird pad texture (tacky glide), and sporadic, jumpy, awkward mouse navigation and scrolling.
    :mad2:

Question 1: Is this the reality of this machine or is it possible I got a bum component here?
Subquestion: if this is normal, is anyone else really annoyed by this aspect of the machine? I am testing side by side with an HP Pavilion 6700 series which is so easy and smooth by comparison. Perhaps folks have found a workaround?

Question 2: I have 1 year of Dell's warranty. Anyone have experience and opinion with the value of 2 or 3 year coverage?
    :radar:

    Thanks in advance.

Did you actually try to adjust the settings?

what you say aspect, do you mean aspect ratio? do text and icons look wide or narrow? If you are referring to this then I would suggest checking your resolution to make sure you are in a widescreen resolution. the normal resolutions are 1280x800, 1440x900, or 1680x1050

Thank you for your responses. Apologies that my language wasn't clear. :err:
I am not referring to anything wrt the screen.
I am referring to the touchpad. You know the one... below the keyboard.
As I navigate by finger, my finger often 'sticks'. Separately, sometimes the pointer will not respond while other times jumps. When it does work, the pointer movement is choppy more often than not.
    Is this anyone else's experience?
Otherwise, it seems like a worthwhile machine so far, but this touchpad / navigation experience could be a deal breaker.

Good question. I have a M1530 on the way in about a week and a half. I'd like to know the answer.

The HP's Touchpad is silky smooth/great ergonomics,at first I was also very annoyed with the M1530's touchpad but have grown accustomed to its quirks. You might set the touchpad controls for lighter sensitivity, and speed up the cursor. It may help.
