Hello I recently received my xps 1530. Everything looks fine for the most part. I do have a couple questions. When the LCD is black and you see like white light from the edges and such is that back light bleeding or somthing?? Other than that my screen looks great. Is that a big deal?

Also I'm not even able to tell who my manufactor is. All it says is Generic pnp and standard display and such when I look it up throught the drivers. Any clue why that is?

Finally I have the optiarc dvd drive. It's not loud now but do they pose a problem later?

    thnx for any help.

The light bleed is only a problem if it bothers you. I've seen screens with terrible light bleed, screens with no light bleed, and screens with every level in between. Only you can decide whether it's enough to ruin the display. If it does, then call dell and they'll swap it out for you. Most displays will have some, but if the light bleed is more than minimal, I'd call it in.

You can find out the mfr of your screen by right-clicking the PnP monitor in device manager, selecting properties, going to the details tab, and selecting DeviceID from the drop down box. SEC is Samsung, I know.

I have the Optiarc drive, and yeah it clunks when loading a DVD. But mine doesn't make noise during general usage nor have I had any issues at all with it. The noise bothers some folks, but I don't particularly care.

Congrats on the new Laptop. My new 1530 has a little bleed at the bottom, but it is really only noticeable if I am looking for it on a black screen. Since I don't really notice it and it doesn't bother me, I'm not too concerned. So it all comes down to personal preference. If it gets to you...call it in.
