my original Dell adapter was broken so i got a new one. This adapter works but there is warning everytime i turn on my Studio XPS 1640 that says "your adapter type can't be recognised and the battery wont be charged"
As i said my laptop works fine but due to not recognising the new adapter , battery can't be charged.
    I'm waiting for your help
    Thank u

It is a Dell adapter or a 3rd party one? check the model # in back and we should be able to tell for sure. I have seen 3rd party adapters that have that same issue.

Do you get this only when booting, or also in Windows?

The charger is not 100% compatible with the notebook or partly damaged, as the notebook can't communicate with the charger. This means that you need a new one.
