First of all, this being my first laptop i am not really familiar with the temp range for mobile processors and would like to know what the temp range is for the "Penryn" x9000 extreme duo(Whats too hot?). Also i am having an issue when trying to upgrade to the dell "performance" 8800M SLI drivers (174.31 i think) where the color white will show up as a "post-it" yellow on web pages icons games, everything. This also happened with the new 177.40 and .41 drivers. Stock drivers work fine(167.55) but id like to get the newer ones to work and see what i can get outta them.

Answers to either would be great, even share what your running your x9000 at too.

    thanks,

    Sage

That's because you need the modded INF file. You can find a customized one in these forums, look for the thread about 175.19 (look it up) and dig through it.

    http://www.say-it-loud.com/nv_disp_17519.inf

    here ya go :)

Rename it to nv_disp.inf and overwrite the one that came with the 175.19 drivers, install, and BAM, success

Cool thanks, by the way do you have any knowledge about undervolting? i have done it before but a whileago and i got back into it using the guide here by flip(using RMclock), and after i did all that and tried to set a VID and the Mult(FID) Stayed at the lowest and would not increase leaving my Cores at 1.2 GHz when its set to run at 3.0 right now even though its on the performance on demand which should push it up when needed, even when i use max performance with the highest FID it stays on the lowest.

It feels like it is stuck on 6.0x and where ever i do as long as that program is running it will stay that way
any help would be cool thanks again.

Why doesn't anyone ever rep me when I help them out !! :(

I don't undervolt... I tried it out, and yeah its great and drops temps, but I don't care I've got a warranty on this thing.

I just don't want the programs running. However, when I undervolted, I was able to use the min voltage .955 or something, and i had no issues at max speed or anything like you described. You might want to up the voltage. i don't have your CPU however, remember that!

I didnt rep you becuase im new and didnt know about that feature sorry my friend, and yea i tried inceasing the voltage back to stock and even using maximal performance to force it to max multiplyer but when rmclockis running, it is stuck on that low multiplier.

I got the warrently as well but im n ot full OCing it so this will go over time not fast.

It just worries me i can top out at around 77C or more at 3.0 on orthos and a little higher on 3.2 that just seems abnormally high for a CPU no?

Thanks again ill find out how to +rep you now and do it! lol.
