Is it possible to get a new screen for an M1710?
Do they use the same screens as the 1720 and the M1730?

Or would any screen on the recently discontinued M1710 model be refurbished?

Probably refurb...however you should check if the 1720 or M1730 have the same dimensions, if it could use the same screen.

"Probably refurb" is what I'm afraid of.
I'm trying to decide if I should have Dell replace the screen or return the laptop for refund. The screen is overall brownish yellowish -- like looking at text and pictures on an old book with pages that have been discolored by age. Also the entire right edge of the screen is darkened (with XP, so it's not because of a sidebar) and the two lower corners are blackened, as if someone rubbed soot on the image. I thought they checked the refurbs before sending them out.
