    Hey all,

This forum looks awesome and should be really cool learning about all the features and stuff. I don't see anything sticked to the top or anything about a newbies guide to the 1530 is there anything I should know or watch out for. Also I had a question on getting a wireless router. Is there any one that is good with the Dell Wireless 1395 802.11g Mini Card, I know sometimes the routers can be picky.

If this stuff has been covered and you can point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

Looking forward to Monday when I get my laptop.

    Shaggy

    Hi There!

I just received my 1530 this past week. Everything is great, so far. The one problem I have read about (only because I had it myself and looked it up) is that the webcam won't work. For example, mine kept saying that I needed to load the driver. When I did, it still wouldn't work. So I went online and googled the 1530 webcam driver and downloaded the new one. I restarted, and now the cam works great. I actually like it! I thought I wouldn't. Good luck with yours! I'll be checking back to see what I can learn!

Depending on your ISP, some routers apparently work better than others, or at least that's what they'll tell you. For instance, my low end linksys part as a terrible time with multiple computers and a comcast cable modem. I would talk to you ISP. I have a friend running a Belkin router with a dell and comcast and it seems to work well.

    PS:

Also, I have Verizon and their wireless router (Westell). The Dell 1530 was quicker to get my wireless up and running than any of the other computers I own. I put the WEP number in at set-up, and I didn't even have to install Verizon's software. At first, it kept telling me I couldn't get onto IE because I was not connected. So I tried to type in a new address, and it worked. I hope that helps.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I wish it were monday (delivery day)already. So is it advisable to blow everything off right away and do a fresh install?

Just curious since I'm going to order an m1530 eventually..

If you're in the USA, how long did your order take and was the shipping date they predict on dell.com accurate? I'm going to be away on vacation from the 12th to 22nd and I want to know when to order to have it arrive right when I get back.

EDIT: can't delete this I guess, but I just made a new thread on my question so you can disregard this post.
