New xps 17 some questions need help with!

Hello I purchased a new dell xps with the following build below.

I have a few questions.

1. I purchased the 3d model but did not purchase glasses from dell. If I wanted to buy them seperate what do I have to buy? I see they sell spare glasses without the IR emitter thing and then a budle with it. Can I just buy the spare glasses is the IR emitter built into my comp? Do you guys have any recommendations on a good cheap place to pick up a pair?

2. It is absolutely important to me that my comp comes with 4 DIMMS and supports 16 gigs of ram. I purchased the 3d model and the 555M 3g video card. I am asured to get the 4 DIMM motherboard correct? I purchased the following memory for 16 gig total it will be supported in my comp correct?

3. I heard there was a problem with overheating. Have alot of ppl experianced this issue? Do I need to purchase a cooling pad? If I do is there a recommended one?

What is dell's dead pixel policy for the xps 17? I remember I bought a dell awhile ago and in the first 21 days you could send it back for any reason for a full refund that was quite a generous return policy is it still in place?

 

Yes, the 1080p 3D screen has an emitter built-in - its the black little screen just below the Dell logo on the bottom of your screen and has a 3D logo next to it.

Can't help with the dead pixel policy/warranty though - I dunno anything about it

 

If you choose the i7-2630QM I think it also comes with 4 DIMM slots as it is a quad core.

 

FWIW, I'm running four Samsung 4GB sodimms and the laptop is running beautifully with them. The laptop fan seemed to speed up a lot and it was driving me crazy. I then proceeded to reformat the hard drive as I usually do and just install the essential software and noticed the fan is not spinning up anymore, at least when I'm just doing basic tasks like I was previously doing before the format.

 

i have the same problem with U, and i chatted with REP, they try to persuade me buy 3d glass from dell which provided by SONY, $147, that's two much compared with Amazon....
since no 3D glass, i cannot complete the process of enable 3D setup.
I re-installed OS with win7 ultImate editon and installed 270.51 beta dirver from NVIDIA, is that enough for 3D VISION if i get the 3D glass?

 

Yes. The latest 270.51 drivers includes everything you need. It includes the 3d vision software, the emitter drivers and the display drivers. That is all I installed and so far, the sample photos work great and 3dvisionlive.com website also appeared in 3d. Still haven't finished reinstalling all of my software but soon will check out Tron 3D on my blu-ray player.
