Hi, has Dell fix the light leakage problem on the new Dell laptop 9400/M1710? ("truelife" glossy screen)
if so, how bad is the light leakage?
oh, btw, do they still has that shiny ("funny light difussion") effect on the screen.
How about the viewing angle? is it good?

    thanks

    edit:

how does the dell screen compare with other manufacturer e.g. toshiba, acer, hp, sony? (in term of screen quality and light leakage+shiny+viewing angle)

while i'am interested on the matte screen, i'am especially interested on the glossy screen, specifically the one from the XPS M1710

It really depends on the screen your machine has. I can say from experience (with a E1705 Hot Plate), the Samsung screen blows. Lots of light leakage. When I received my replacement Hot Plate, it came with the LG screen. Much better. A world of difference. Barely any light leakage at all and the color looked great. I didn't notice any shimmer on either one.

Most important is the light leakage factor (at least in my book).

nope - didnt take any screenshots of the Hot Plate before I sent back the replacement. I can only hope my M1710 arrives with the LG screen.

The LG screen is what you are looking for. I managed to get LG screens for my M170 and m1710 and they are fantastic. Not a lot of light leakage at all and the screen is amazing.

A Picture if you dont believe

I have a SHARP brand screen in my M1710. Light leakage about the same as the picture of the LG above (maybe slightly less). Anyone care to comment on SHARP brand screens? (I hear about Samsungs and LG, but haven't heard much about SHARP).

compared LG screen of Dell, Toshiba and SOny. The UXGA screen of Dell LG is just slightly below the Sony. Dell LG screen compared to Toshiba is even. Toshiba's manufacturer for LCD also LG but they make a different type for toshiba.

Sometimes Dell LG has uneven "smooothness" of the screen, which you will see some small distortion of vertical lines and horizontal lines on some part of the screen.

The brightness of LG is brighter, color and constrast is also better than my Asus.

About sharp screen.. it's the worst i've everseen . The color display is not accurate. If you have a Toshiba laptop or Sony and put on the same wallpaper, you'll see the color differences of the Screen.

PS: my Asus screen is LG also but the light leakage is purpleish... the black color display is fantastic on this one. although it's a little bit less bright as the Dell LG,as well as saturation and contrast.

I'm taking a lot of digital photograph so the color on the screen display must be as accurate as possible.

    Here are some pix.
