My parents had agreed to go with the 25% off m1530 today but then i checked and realized it must have been a mistake that has now been fixed. So looks like i will be waiting until there are more deals that can bring the price below $1200 before tax for a good config(or possibly montevina). :( :( :(

Yeah, the 25% off coupon expired the evening of the 16th. Sorry to hear that. Though I have a feeling you won't see it again, theres always that 1% chance.

Have you looked for your configuration in the Dell Outlet? You should be able to easily meet your budget.

I did mention in a few other threads it expired on July 16th... but... yeah, be more careful next time.

Dell outlet is pretty cheap, but remember, it is a refurb.

Nope, both expired on the 16th. There was someone that said it was extended to 24th... but he/she was lying or just wrong. Not very nice.

I don't know how long you might have to wait but Dell always comes along with deals. Generally I think there is a 2-3 month gap between those 25 percent coupons. I think the last one was in May.

25% coupons really were unheard of until the M1530 came along. These discounts will not be happening once the new Montevina refreshes. The only discounts they typically have for XPS is 100 bucks off, or other insignificant deals. You can be sure that a configuration that costs 1,200 bucks now will cost close or above 2,000 bucks when Montevina comes out.

Well Dell used to have 35-40 percent coupons every quarter but they stopped doing that three years ago. I think its because people used to buy like ten systems and then flipped them on ebay. Anyway I don't think you can say that we'll never see the 25 percent coupon ever again because its happened three times so far. There was one that ended 5/8 and another one that ended 5/28. After those I thought they would never happen again but it did this month so there is still hope.

Did you try going through the education store? I got a pretty good deal on mine which included Office as well as the four year warranty. I have the feeling you can bargain a little with the sales person.

Yeah, I used the 35-45%. Though all those big discounts are only for the Inspiron line like the E1505 I have as well.

I am referring to the XPS line. That line has NEVER gotten any significant discounts until the M1530 pulled off a few discounts after 10 months of its release with the 25% off at the 12 month period.

It gives you an idea what Montevina refresh pricing will be like.

The only difference in terms of Inspirons in the present and the past is that the E1505 was an Inspiron, but was by no means a "budget" laptop and it looks better than the present designs for Inspirons. Dell now made the current line of Inspirons bulky and heavy and keep emphasis on the "budget", which is kinda disappointing. Studio sorta makes up for it, but not really since the pricing is still kinda high. Studio is basically what the successor to the E1505 should have been.

When you say 1,200, is that before or after all these discounts? $800 is such a huge difference in pricing which could change my mind waiting for the refresh instead of buying it now.

I have a 15% off Dell outlet XPS coupon. You can get a fully loaded system for a VERY good price. Try going to dell.com/outlet and see if you like any configuration. I will give you the coupon )

You can always try to haggle to bring the price down, or ask for free upgrades. If you keep trying (and try to be professional about it :p), you should be able to get some good upgrades (mention your scenario, and say that you will switch to HP unless Dell can offer a better deal).

if u have dell epp, the $1268 (or $1195 before tax if u dont want the 4th yr warranty) is a great deal, and fits ur budget, if u have access to dell epp (more discounts if ur parents work in a company(eg boeing) that has more discounts)

that deal is 'open' (as in shown/linkable) to certain institutions(my sister's college shows it in their customized page, but my college doesnt)

go slickdeals.net and search... go PM zxcasd there (its my 2nd alias.... i'll help u over there)

and this is a better link: (its the same config, but u get 8% off due to warranty)

what paper wastage posted is probably one of the best bargains out there. In addition, there is also a 5% STACKABLE coupon for EPP at the moment. which will bring the price down to 1135.33 before tax. Standard 3-5 day shipping is also FREE. Keep in mind, you are getting a fully loaded system with 3 yr warranty plus accidental and lojack. Go buy.
