My AC Adapter isn't being recognized by my system and won't charge my battery. Windows installed a couple updates recently, but other than that, I can't think of any reason that it would be doing this... Its the same adapter that came with the system, the only one that I've ever plugged into this computer.

I read that pulling the battery and adapter and then holding the power button for 30 seconds to flush any remaining power would fix it but this didn't work.

So frustrating being tied to a wall

It looks like this is a common problem but so far I haven't read any reliable solutions.

Mike your AC, could be bad. What is your battery strip power indicating?

This happened to me on my 1530, I had tried unplugging and powering into another Outlet as such, and it wouldn't hold a charge for the battery.

I contacted XPS support, and they sent me a brand new AC Adapter w/brick.
(even being outside of the 1 year warranty).

Or, if you are under warranty, what they will most likely want to do is the...We shall replace your Motherboard & send you a new AC Adapter route (Dell seems to like to it that way)!

    Hmmmmm...

It happened to me a couple of days ago.

Try taking a look inside the plug that connects to your m1330. If the metallic wire that was inside the plug has been broken, your laptop will work as connected, but the battery won't charge.

Check this and maybe Dell will send you a replacement. I'm calling tomorrow.

I tried used another charger that I bought for my summer house and it works perfectly, so it's the wire inside the plug that fell after one year of use.

    Thanks for the responses people!

I'm going to go ahead and contact Dell to see what they say. I'm outside of my warranty period so we'll see what they say.

Baraja, the prong inside the connector seems to be intact, but who knows for sure.

As a back up plan, I think I'm going to go ahead and purchase a generic adapter off of ebay. For $12 w/ free delivery, I figure why not.

I just read another thread about not holding a charge. If you have bios A12 try reverting it back to A09.
