My warranty ended a while ago for my M1530, but I've been recently experiencing overheating shut downs while playing games such as Half-Life 2, Call of Duty 4, and other games. I'm not sure what temperature I managed to reach up to that causes the shutdowns, but my currently temperature according to HWMonitor is:

    CPU Core 1: 78C Core 2: 78C GPU: 80C

I sense that is quite high so I'm thinking in investing in a notebook cooler. Do you guys have any suggestions that would be good for the M1530? I periodically clear the inside of dust, should I be changing the thermal paste/pad too? Its still the one Dell applied when I received my laptop a year and a half ago.

Cooler Master Notepal Infinity is pretty good. I just got it today and it's pretty awesome for how much it costs. It's only $20 at Micro-Center.

My suggestion would be to get the 9 Cell battery, that elevates the laptop allowing for more airflow. My GPU used to regularly hit 101 C, until I had a technician reset the heatsinks, with new thermal paste. Now I rarely go higher than the temperatures you are at, and I'm happy with that.

Also, you can gain the awesome battery life of the 9 Cell. I scored a used one on eBay for 30 bucks, and have been really happy with it.
