Ok so i have a Dell studio XPS 16. Got it last Summer. Im thinking about getting a cooler/stand for my laptop. I know there are TONS of threads about coolers and ive like read them all. I can't decide between the following Four Coolers.

    Zalman NC2000

    NXZT Cryo

    COOLER MASTER NotePal Infinite

    Enermax Aeolus Aluminum Notebook Cooler

Please help me decide between these four. I really don't know about Laptop Coolers and if owners who have the same laptop and any one of these coolers could comment, it would be really helpful

I too would like to hear some thoughts on these... would like to pick one up before my system arrives.

One thing I'd be curious about is information re: any added noise. Those fans look pretty big and I'd hate to have to hear a helicopter while sitting with my laptop in bed. Anyone know of any silent ones (other than just a big heat sink)?

i heard that the four listed are like top quality. So i belive the noise is not that bad when at high speed and when at low speed...barely any.

I'm actually getting the Zalman NC-2000B tomorrow, which is the exact link from newegg. I'm also buying it for the Studio XPS 1640, so I'll let you know then if you haven't decided.

I have the same laptop and NC2000. Its still quiet after months of heavy use, and i believe that is what you are paying for (quality fans). Lowest setting keeps the 1640 cool during light usage (web/office/video). No more hot touchpad area. Depending on the game i bump the fan up to half or full and usually don't notice the fans over the game. Cooler feels solid/durable and I hope the fans last a long time.

I have a cheap generic laptop cooler stuck in a cramped entertainment stand to help keep things cool and i don't turn it on anymore because the fans went from inaudible to loud at any setting within a couple weeks of light usage.

Yeah, I used a cheap generic plastic cooler with my last laptop and I decided that I'd put a little more money towards my next cooler.

I recently picked up a NZXT Cryo and I've been very impressed with it. The reviews aren't kidding when they say it is solidly built - Quite a nice change from my flimsy Targus cooler. It is big, but if you don't have to lug it around often I think its perfect for a desk set up.

I don't have any of those, but if all things are equal between the Zalman and Cryo in terms of cooling ability, I'd go with the Cryo since it has extra USB ports. I don't know how many though. Um it says the Cryo can work on either USB or AC power (but more effectively on AC), so that may be a factor for you. If I was looking to buy one, I'd go with the Cryo since I could keep my printer and mouse plugged in all the time without having to swap stuff around.

Wow just looked at the price: $70? I may stick with my flimsy Targus one for a little while until I can afford it. But this topic is about you, so get whatever you feel is worth it.

yea i see what you mean but are they equall in terms of cooling abililty? beacause it all depends on where my vents are on my laptop right?

Zalman NC1000 for the 13" XPS and NC2000 for the 16" XPS for great justice.

I don't think it matters as much that the notebook cooler blow air into a specific vent, but I may be wrong...

If I had to guess I'd say the Cryo can cool better than the Zalman since the Cryo has 3 fans instead of 2.

But it seems like a lot of people here have the Zalman. I don't know if it's because it is more popular or because it can cool better.

It'd be great to get some input from people have actually tried both out and told us which one was better. I think what you're going to end up with is people who own one product will suggest it over another, even if they haven't tried the other one out yet.

For example: Get the $20 walmart targus cooler. :D
