    Hi!

Iam having some trouble adjusting the video color/contrast in Nvidia control panel. It used to work just fine until today.
I installed Steam ( game software ) it said something like check for graphic updates, and I downloaded from Nvidias site, what they suggested. After the install I could not access the Control Panel anymore, said something about the monitor Iam using is not connected. I uninstalled the newly installed driver, and installed the drivers that dell offers for my service code, and the Control Panel works, except the video color settings does not. Instead, the desktop color settings changes the video contrast and color.

    Any help?
    Thanks!

Try one more time to delete it, and download the latest nvidia, and when u install, perform a CLEAN install. Hope that helps, and please specify what machine you're using.

Yes try this. I personally use nvidia drivers direct from their site and leave dell's version well alone. I have never had any problems.

Thanks for your reply =) Although I did try it already cause that was the most obvious action to do.

I have a L702x with i5 2430M and GeForce GT 550M. I also thought that drivers from Nvidia's site is more up to date than Dell, but when I tried several times to update I would get an error message in the beginning of the installation, and I remember that I read somewhere that I should install graphics drivers via Dell because they are designed/modified so that I can install them, something about same driver but Dell have different hardware id? Anyways...

But I did try to install the latest driver for my L702x:
    296.10 WHQL
    Release Date: 2012.03.13

I thought I should try again from Nvidias site, but after the installation Nvidia Control Panel did not work, like I wrote previously.

Thanks for your replies, I will try some more

I tried to install the latest driver from Nvidia, with clean install, and got the same errors as always ( forgot to mention ):

Nvidia Update, Version - 1.7.11 Status - Not installed
HD audiodriver Version - 1.3.12.0 Status - Not installed
NVIDIA Update Components Version - 1.7.11 Status - Failed
Graphic Driver Version - 296.10 Status - Installed
3D Vision Driver Version - 296.10 Status - Not installed

And like before, when I try to open the Nvidia Control Panel I get the error message (translated from swedish):

Nvidia Monitor settings are not available.
You are not using a monitor connected to a NVIDIA GPU-device

    Any help?
    Thanks!

Okay, so Iam back to square one. Basically, my question, why on earth when I change the video settings nothing happens, but when I change the desktop color settings, both images and video get affected. Its like the " thing " that seperates video and images does not work, as if it does not recognize a video.
I have not changed media player ( mpc ) or any settings there, all I have done is installed nvidia drivers.

Do you have the 3D-screen system? If so, first off make sure you haven't tried to install Intel Graphics at any point, that will just confuse the heck out of things since those systems effectively do not have Intel graphics. Some of the errors you are reporting suggest this may be happening. Also, if you have said 3D system, try installing the latest DELL driver, there may be something different about the 3D system where you might be better off using Dell's. Not sure, but try if you have that system.

If you don't have the 3D system, do a CLEAN installation of the drivers, which is not simply running an uninstaller and then the new installer. See below:

Before any driver installations (especially graphics!), make sure to uninstall and run Driver Sweeper (google it) to get rid of all parts of the old drivers, else you will probably keep carrying the same problems forward.

Now this is very interesting... just now I connected my Dell L702x to my flat screen Tv with a HDMI cable, and when I changed the video settings I saw the video was affected, I disconnected the Projector ( TV ) and changed the video settings again, now I had the Laptops monitor on, nothing happend... this is very strange! Whats going on??

    Hi again.

I think Iam closer to the root of the problem, like I said, through the TV worked, but through the laptop monitor it did not, and perhaps it has something to do with this in the image. http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/1474/nvidiad.jpg
That my laptop monitor uses Intel HD 3000, and my TV uses Geforce 550M, and because my TV uses the 550M the Nvidia Control Panel works ( video settings ), okay so this sounds logical, right? So, how do I change this? Also, can somebody please confirm this who has Nvidia graphic card and Intel HD and look in the settings for " Set up multiple monitors " and look what graphic card the laptop monitor uses?

    Any help is Appreciated!
