Apparently Nvidia released a driver today for the Geforce 540m card. Its one of their verde drivers that now official supports the 540m. I was wondering if its cool to install or should i just stick with the Dell updates? Has anyone tried it out yet?

Is this a new Beta version?

Or the official release of was has been in Beta testing?

Many users on these forums have been using Nvidia Beta version 270.xx drivers for about a month now its possible this is the completed version of those drivers.

I am unable to truly "surf" the web right now so unable to check myself as I am at work so anyone who knows would be good to know if you can see.

I too would appreciate any direction/experience people might be offered into the officially released 270.61, in particular to the XPS 15 L502X.

Just played dirt 2 with the new driver and bios A4. Everything seems fine. Game seems to play a little smoother. Fan seems to kick on a little more, but not much, and the gpu idles in the low 40's instead of the normal high 40's. This is with stock clocks.

    Hey guys i just bought new Dell Xps 15 ( L502X) with 2Gb Nvdia 540 M GT.
I am having problem with scaling , there is no such option coming in Nvdia Control panel , when i launch NFS Most wanted or prince of persia , game just scale to half of screen , it do not fill the screen.
Any idea how to fix this in Xps 15 L502X ?

Hi Guys , need some help
I just tried to install Nvdia Drivers 270.61 on Dell Xps 15 L502x , but it errors out , saying failed , not installed. Then i tried to un install the previous driver file from Device manager and then tried to install. So then it says could not find compatible hardware. Can you all tell what to do here ? i also tried clean install that did not work too ?

I would suggest trying the driver sweeper program by Phyxion. I used it when I had the L701x and on my thread for testing Nvidia drivers for that model and have it installed on my L702x.. If you follow the link to my thread, there are suggestions on succesfully installing drivers. It has never falied me.
    Good luck...

hey guys the driver version shipped Dell Xps 15 L502X , doesnt have seetings for Need For Speed Shift 2 Unleashed , you cant add that program in nvida panel , if u try adding it automatically go away from the panel. How ever i tried to update the drivers , but no sucess in that it always fail installing.
When you call up dell they say dell has not launched any update for drivers for dell sos 15 and if you somehow manage to update , dell will not be responsible if your system gets crashed or hardware damaged ? Is there any solution to it ? or Dell will must have to launch an update for nvdia 540 M gt ( 270.61 WHQL ) ? Any insights ?

For some reason the NVIDIA driver seems like it might only be able to detect Program Files programs, not Program Files (x86) programs.

No Dakkona it detects Program Files (x86 ) programs also , in mine its doing , but Nvdia needs an update which will include new progarms settings also , which is not the case in default driver

Finally installed new Nvidia Driver 275.33 WHQL and performance is quite good. Had to factory image the laptop to install , there was something which was hindering in installation also i installed Nvdia PureVedio HD , really works vedios has more qualities , just install and run vedios through media center or media player

just wanted to ask something about the Nvidia Driver 275.33, does anyone encounter problem with it?? especially in gaming?

because my XPS 15 is with the second-gen intel and has the Nvidia 540M 2GB... but every single time im playing Dragon Age 2 right after startup...

After a few minute of playing .... The game was forced to shutdown due to my graphic failed to run and after the game was shutdown, windows notify me that the nvidia graphic have been restarted.... anyone having the same issue??

im playing dragon age 2 with these setting:

    High Graphic Option.
    DX11
    AA and Antisophric = 2X
    1366X768 resolution.

the previous XPS model with the 545 or the 420 was able to tackle this setting with no problem..
