I have it running and it works well for me. I do not do any gaming (yet) so I can not tell you about the gaming performance.

The release highlights ( NVIDIA DRIVERS 270.61 WHQL ) show what some of the changes/improvements are.

    Thanks

I'll check it out tomorrow. I hope there's some big performance improvements. :)

I've been hoping Nvidia would release something like this.
    "NVIDIA Update

This is a new feature in Release 270 and later drivers. NVIDIA Update keeps your PC up-to-date with the latest GeForce drivers by notifying you when a new driver is available..." NVIDIA Update

    Sounds good :)

Everyone please look at this Nvidia version 270+ drivers make a hidden UpdatusUser account on your system!! Nvidia has created a "Hidden" User Account when you chose to install Nvidia Update as well as the drivers!!!

Let's not be sensationalistic about this. It is a limited user account and so it actually has the potential to be more secure than if it ran under your user account. It also allows it to run while you are logged out.

I agree that there is no need to panic. ;) I do think that we should have been given that information prior to the install so that we could make a more informed decision. I've chosen to remove that feature all together.

    Thanks

there's no problem installing these straight over the top of the beta drivers is there? Mine seemed to install ok this way with no issues. However I recall the beta drivers required me to uninstall the Dell stock drivers first.

There should be no problem installing over the beta drivers, that's what I did on my desktop and XPS 14

How do you remove that feature only? I'm sure I installed it along with the new driver. I'd prefer it be removed.

I've read other posts where people suggest removing the current display drivers first, reboot, then install the Nvidia 270.61 Whql driver. Not to worry as the OS will use a generic driver to show basic video so that you can have a "usable" image on your screen until you load the Nvidia display drivers.

Unless you are not concerned, I would opt out of loading the "NVIDIA Update" option when you load the display driver.

Tried to install 270.61 driver on my XPS 15. It installs everything except the Optimus driver.

Was anyone lucky to install all the drivers in the package?
    How did you do it?

Hi, does this happen to just me or someone else? The clean installation of the 270.61 on my L401 went well. However the display driver crashed when I have the photoshop CS5 opened and watch the youtube video clips in the opera. Although it didn't seem to effect any performance during the usage, the battery drained when the laptop goes to sleep. Uninstalled and went back to the previous version (267.76). It went normal again, no crashed, no battery drained issue when sleep.

I'm just copying my question from another thread, as this seems to be driver specific:

    hey guys

just an other quick question. I found that Assassins Creed brotherhood runs really slow on my XPS (2 GB 540m). The interesting part is that I experience the same lagging with every settings - doesnt matter if I try to run it in 1366 High or 1366 lowest settings, the performance remains the same, the in-game videos are out of synch e.g.

I have seen a lot of gameplay videos with this VGA and I doubt that it could be a problem for a Dell machine if an Acer Aspire with the same gpu can run it smoothly on 1366 high settings. I have the latest nvidia driver installed.

Do you have any idea what can cause this ?

Probably not using the Nvidia. Check your Optimus settings for this game in Start..NVidia..Performance.

    problem solved

actually, it was using the nvidia card, but with wrong settings (powermanagement and performance). I manually modified the settings for the launch file for high performance card, and maximum performance in power saving option than it started to function properly - fullHD max settings runs smooth as hell
