    Hi guys,
I have ordered the m1730 with this config:
    17" WUXGA 1900x1200 screen
    C2D X7900 2,8Ghz
    4GB DDR2 Ram
    250GB 5400 rpm
    Bluetooth
    etc.

I know it's possible to OC the processor to 3,4, but is it also possible, heatwise, to OC the to GPUs? Anybody thats already got it that is thinking about doing it?

Please give me your comments :)

I'm sure it is possible, but you will have to be very careful about monitoring your heat levels. However, I'd say OCing those wouldn't be worth it for the time being as they will be plenty powerful. :)

Yeah thats my thought also. Even though I'm sure its not the vid cards that are the problem but drivers for either them or GRAW2

Interesting. It is probably driver issues or bad coding on the games part. There really isn't any reason you should be able to play any new games on high with those card IMHO. Have you tried running the game in non-SLI mode? Sometimes SLI adds more problems that performance gains for some games. Of course, I am assuming that you aren't trying to run at 1920 x 1200, which probably would be a little much for the cards.

Presumably the point of overclocking the dual 8700m GTs would be to achieve decent framerates at 1920x1200...

Well after reading the sticky at the software and graphic cards section of the forum, a new driver has been released for the 8700m GT:
New 167.26 drivers for 8700m GT jump 1000 points on 3dmarks06!
Now single stock 8700m GT already average 5500 and run as cool!!

Now evidently 8700m GT is jumping ahead of 7950GTX with new better DX10 driver,
    and not looking back...

Now where did the 1000 points come from?!!?
It can't be because it suddenly has more memory bandwidth I supposed...
looks like the other dx10 parts of 8700m is starting to play up its magic...and memory issue is less significant now.

Can't imagine the lead of a 8700m GT SLi....
    by planet.
This will apparently make it as fast as the 7950GTX and with better eyecandy. I havn't heard of anyone trying the new driver in a game and checking the FPS though. Hope it improves as much there!

From my experience with my 8800GTX, drivers have quite a significant impact on performance, especially in such a young product. I hope the new drivers work good for you. Let us know how they turn out. I'd be curious to know...

Will do. Will be making extensive benchmark and OC tests on the CPU and GPU both.

When I GET my m1730 that is ;)

Where shall one get these drivers? I'm playing the cod4 demo with everything turned to max and running 1920x1200 the game runs smooth. I don't have fraps yet, but its got to be more than 30 fps!! The game looks freaking amazing. It gets a liitle choppy, but that's when the action is VERY VERY VERY INTENSE!! If these drivers make my m1730 handle those scenes, then all I can is this thing really is THE BEAST!!!
