...nothing is wrong with it :p

I just want to break the patttern and tell you guys how great my XPS M1530 is. I must admit that after reading everything about this computer I thought the chances of getting a good one was minimal :)

I got the SEC3350 screen and no evil grain. I have in the past returned screens countless of times because of various problems. This screen is perfect apart from colors beeing a little bit washed out. Nothing that a litle bit of digital vibrance wont fix. No grain at all and almost perfect uniform bright backlight.

Everything else is also working perfectly.

I few things that i think all M1530 "suffers" from though:

Slight creeking noise left side of touchpad if pressed hard!
Not perfectly flush on right side next to del-key between plastic and aluminium, very minimal though.
If opened to far will make a small creeking noise.
Harddrive (mine 5400 WD BLUE) makes low clicking noises.

Apart from the issues above the build quality is superb, it feels like a tank. I have a test I always make on new laptops. I take the keyboard with both hands and try to twist it. Every laptop I have had so far, and tested in stores, have made at least some noise and has always flexed a bit. This M1530 is a bloddy tank, it does not flex at all.

Great friggin computer! and I'm out....

congrats and nice to hear u got a good one.

the plastic piece next to yur delete key can be fixed. u just need to remove a few pieces to get to that plastic piece and re-seat that plastic piece. then just put everythin back.

Glad your xps 1530 is working out for you !

    One questions though:

I have a test I always make on new laptops. I take the keyboard with both hands and try to twist it. Every laptop I have had so far, and tested in stores, have made at least some noise and has always flexed a bit.

How do you flex a laptop keyboard? You mean try to twist both sides of the laptop?

Yes I guess so. I take it by the sides, lift it up a little and then twist it clockwise with one hand and the other way with the other.

It's a good test as all well built laptops usually flex a little but make no noise (thinkpas etc) and crappy laptops creek and screams :). Extremely good laptops titanium thinkpads and such does not flex or make any noise, the m1530 even though not as good as those still does not flex or make any sound.

I wouldn't say the chances of getting a good one are minimal. I doubt you would get an XPS that wouldn't boot. However 2-3 years from now is the real test. Not unless you don't have the nvidia card. Either way it's always a simple call to dell and a tech will be out there in a day or 2 and fix your PC.

    Congrats!

From experience of my friend (i've not yet had to use tech support lol) who also has an XPS it was next day support at his home. As far as I am aware that is what is better about the "Premium XPS customer service" as well as priority when calling.

Is that not right or is it just better in the UK? I.E Next day
