Greetings from Vancouver everyone![]()
I am about to pull the pin on a 702x to replace my ancient Inspiron 9300, which is finally showing signs of giving up the ghost. When I bought my current laptop years ago, it wasn't too difficult to obtain an OS disk to do a fresh install; all I had to do was call up Dell and whine for about 2 minutes that my IT guy wiped my machine and I needed to start over. Of course the story wasn't true, but I didn't want to hear their stupid suggestion that I burn myself a recovery disk from the existing pre-installed OS.
What manner have you all used to obtain a fresh W7 disk from Dell? The clueless fellow with whom I chatted seemed to think that they were not available, even if I were willing to pay some nominal cost.
If I am paying for a bloody Windows license, I want the Windows disk, not Dell's version of the OS, along with whatever bloated garbage they think is also required. Does anyone feel the same?
Please share your experiences, I am hoping to order within the next couple of days!
Cheers
