I bought a M1530 on the cheap a few months and installed Win 7 x64 with a lot of research primarily from here. Everything worked perfect. The drive is a Teac DVW28SLC. It's a slot load and the only eject button is with volume and DVD controls above the keyboard. I found a fan made torrent of something completely unavailable otherwise at any price and wanted to burn it to DVD. I decided to try Imgburn for the software. Installed it, popped a fresh DVD-R in. DVD drive recognized the blank. I usually reboot a computer before burning, realized I didn't so I rebooted. Now, the drive no longer works.

    After the reboot:
    -Drive is visible to bios.
-Drive cycles on boot up, checking for a disc.
-Drive is not visible in explorer
-Drive is not visible to diskmgmt.msc
-Drive is visible, not disabled and properly installed in the device manager.
-Card reader also seems to not be visible either but is showing up in device manager.
-Disc will not eject from keyboard button.

Things I've tried to fix it:
    -Several reboots.
    -Uninstall Imgburn.
    -Uninstall Daemon Tools Lite.
-Uninstall Drive in Device Manager, then reboot.
-Uninstall Drive and ATA controllers then reboot.
-Delete upper and lower filers at HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentCOntrol Set\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}, no entries were present.
-Reinstall chipset drivers, though I don't think Intel installer changed or installed anything.

Anyways, anyone got any ideas? Am I incorrect in diagnosing this as a operating system problem? I need my DVD drive back. Help!

If you've tried Upper/Lower filters, have you tried running the Microsoft FixIt tool for optical drives?

Yup. Did not work. I get error messages since it's for 32 bit only

Well, it's seems there was some human error and a different problem. I didn't have the blank disc in there after all, hence why it wouldn't eject, oops. The problem is instead explorer isn't showing empty removable drives irregardless of how the option is set in file and folder options. Somewhat frustrating, as I'd rather have the empty drives showing, but it works.

My drive is not showing or visible at all unless there is a disc inserted. If a disc is present, it works fine. You should be able to change this behavior in folder options under the view tab. I cannot. My DVD/CD's only show as blank if they are in fact blank. My drive is actually functionally correctly and is usable.
