Sorry I couldn't help. Maybe you just have bad luck, or some moron just sent your laptop right back to you. It's messed up if they didn't check the "new" one they send you for the one problem that you are complaining about. Good Luck!

Something's going on and I need advice.

I've had a series of things go wrong in the past few days. I'm wondering if any/all of them are connected and what thoughts you all have before I suffer through Dell tech support.

I've had two keys that I suddenly have to press very hard to get them to react. (They're not next to each other.)

My hard drive recently began whining some of the time. Yesterday it whined a lot. During that time, my cursor would not stay put. It jumped ahead. It jumped backwards. I could only type a word or two before this happened unless I typed very, very slowly. I restarted a couple of times. Ran a virus scan. Then shut the computer off completely. Waited. And when it started up all was well.

I got a message about my wireless card not working. (but that I've had before.)

Just a few minutes ago, the computer shut down with the blue screen. It started up fine though.

    Does anyone have any thoughts?

    Thanks in advance.

    i had a interesting experience

few days ago my upek fingerprint reader stopped working. So i decided to see what caused it.

Took the entire laptop apart, for some weird reason the flex cable some how disconnected by it self.

Was out of the country and let my wife touch my comp and the next thing I know the hard drive's dead. LOL! Anyhow found out that it was a Samsung and heard that there were known problems with the samsung hard drives in the m1530's. Dell was good and quickly replaced it with a brand new seagate.

Wow, I just lowered the CPU and GPU temps of my son's 1530 by 25C!

He had a lot of dust in his rig and I used OCZ Freeze thermal compound to further lower temps.

He can actually set his hands on the palm rest now.

His CPU and GPU were reaching the mid 90's C, and now, neither of them get above 70C during gaming.

Which wd? If this one dies too I'll make sure the next one is a wd then. So far no clicking noises at all. Last hard drive had clicking noises every so often from when I first got it. I did look at a 500g 7200rpm wd on newegg.

my cat chewed through my power supply cord and now it heats up crazy hot, doesn't power the laptop and emits a high pitched sound. i think something is broken :)

does anyone know the part number, wattage, etc so i can buy a replacement? there are some on ebay for about $12, but i'm not sure if they are the right part. thanks!

These are the specs that you need when looking for a new ac adapter:
    90W adapter,
    PA-10 family
    Input: 100-240V ~ 1.5 or 2.0A, 50 - 60Hz,
    Ouput: 19.5v ~ 4.62A
7.5mm circular center pin laptop plug, and obviously you want the 3-prong ones
I found the info on another thread and double checked it with my ac adapter. The item number in my invoice is: RH778. Hope that helps.

Are there any definitively "best" drivers out there for the 8600? Right now I'm using nvidia's 186.03 for notebooks, but would like even better performance if it's out there.

So I put arctic silver 5 on. First time I ever used the stuff. 8C drop in gpu and 10-12C drops in cpu cores. WOW! And that's before I turn on RMclock for undervolting. Highly recommended to anyone who needs to do it. Cheap and very effective. And it isn't supposed to be at max effectiveness yet either.

I've noticed a lot of people are having similar overheating problems as me...

My CPU is hitting mid 80's and low 90's while playing CS:Source...

I have my warranty for another 2 years, think I should have them do something about this? Or will they not do anything really useful (Silver 5, etc.)?

If you're running A11 bios you can have 6 gb or 8 gb of ram I forgot. And for those overheating issues, its time for some new thermal paste.

Is this for any M1530? Or just newer ones? I have one with the mobile intel 965 chipset, and I thought it was limited by the chipset to 4GB.

nVidia has some Win7 updates but Dell doesn't; I actually use Vista Ultimate 64-bit drivers and they worked fine (my mic didn't work until I used the Dell driver). Oddly, my GPU temp is much lower while running Win7 as it was nearing 70C while idling, but now it's down to 60C again.

oh i was reffering to a certain bios update for the m1530 specific to win7 :). i was hoping i didnt have to go the non official dell bios route but since they arent going to be making them anymore seems that will be my next on the to do list.

@djtoodles-Your M1530 will work as it is with your current bios so you don't need any type of mod for it to work in Win Se7en, you just have to wait till Win7 gets release to public and buy a copy and you'll be all good to go. ;)

    Long time ago... :D
