Ok, a little background first: I have cleaned up my startup so that I only have the absolute necessary programs starting up with the lappy, and I also have very few processes going when the computer starts up, but.....

Every time I turn my laptop on I hear either the HDD or CPU clicking for the first 3 minutes. I am leaning toward it being the CPU because I can see that it is performing at in between 15% and 30%. But after the first 3 minutes it goes down to idle usage 0% to 1%. Whats going on?

I think its normal... I would guess its just the essential 'services' in Vista kicking in and stabilizing... though you did clean up the startup list, if you look at the 'services' there are many essential services that Vista needs.. so there... I wouldn't worry much about it.

And again, my dear lovely mate, please post such Q's in the windows OS forum :) :) Thanks :D :D
