    Hi everyone,

I recently ordered a Dell Studio XPS 1645. By default it came with the 9 cell battery. I also ordered an additional 6 cell battery for it.

Is it ok to use the 6 cell battery with this laptop? Obviously the battery won't last as long, but will the laptop run ok? I'm asking because my laptop is going to be plugged in on my desk most of the time and the 6 cell keeps the laptop flat.

    Thanks

if its going to be on the desktop most of the time, then keep it on charge. that solves the problem. i have the 9 cell battery, and I wouldnt want it any lower capacity on battery as it struggles to last long enough as it is.

Note that the little bit the 9 cell holds it up might add to the cooling of the unit.

I've actually been really impressed with the 9cell battery run times on my 1645. It is really easy to break 3hrs of runtime. (I do have an SSD which helps a bit).
I would be happy with a nice trim 6cell that gives me 1.5-2hrs.
