    Hey everyone-
So all of this started when i wanted to change the back cover of my laptop. it was pretty scratched up and i wanted to replace it. i found this tutorial and thought i could use it as a starting point and just swap the two covers. once i was done swapping (which had to be the most ridiculous amount of work on a computer i have ever done), i booted up and noticed that my media controls werent working.

i know for a fact that my media controls arent working because i CANT get that lousy piece of film into the chip that it was connected to. i release the securing tabs and try to put the film in but i can never get it in far enough. is there something that im doing wrong?

also, i know that this isnt a big deal but i wanted to check on this just in case. there was something that i noticed when i was swapping the two covers. i realized that my original cover and the one that i had bought (and the one pictured in the tutorial) were slightly different. there was a chip underneath my screen and had 2 screws attached to it. the one that i had bought had no holes for the chip and the one in the tutorial did not either.

i know that this is probably being way more thorough than it has to be but i just want to make sure that im clear. any help on this would be greatly appreciated ;)

There is a lock (a small one) on that connector for the flat cable.

It is difficult to do, but not impossible. Just slide the white (depending on make it may be brown or black) plastic around the connector out.

Then slide the cable in and, while holding the cable in the connector, push the white lock back into place.

Once it is in you should be able to give it a gentle tug and should stay just fine.
