Order cancelled?

Hi all,

I ordered my new XPS back on the first day it was released in Canada, which was Oct 22. The delivery date was Nov 17.

I just checked my order now and it says "Cancelled" and they gave me a new order number with a due date of Nov 24.

?

Do they usually cancel the order when there's delay or did the stupid agent I spoke to yesterday cancel it on accident when I was inquiring about making a change to my order? (and specifically telling her NOT to cancel it).

 

ordered mine first day available in Canada also, delivery was nov 18th... then on oct 28th noticed a duplicate order with a delivery date of nov 22nd. So I called their customer support who cancelled my first order.

On my second call they said due to either an incorrect sku or missing parts
the sales team had to cancel my order and put in a new order. Asked to talk to a supervisor ... transferred me to a US based call center ..they could not
help me ... back to Indian helpdesk... said someone one call me back.

Today I check and now the 2nd order is cancelled also.... guess they must be
have production issues ... hoping to get a new laptop before christmas. Also no emails or phone calls re: cancellations or changes.

 

Hmmm. Wierd. Maybe that's how they reschedule orders because of production delays, by canceling existing order and then creating a new order.

What specs? 1080p? 15"?

Checked mine and no problems so far.

I think Dell's system's must be somewhat limited. Any kind of problem and they have to cancel and re-create the order. It's bizarre. I ordered the SXPS 16 a week before the XPS 15 was announced. Prior to cancelling it myself (due to extremely poor customer service and my decision to go with the XPS 15 intead, my order was cancelled twice - how I can 't be sure. However the first time I received an email at 5:30am saying they couldn't get in contact with me. Later in the morning I returned the call and they wanted to check some details. Finally they told me all was fine and I would get delivery on X date. An hour later I go and check order status : cancelled...

It's fine if they have to do this but as a customer I expect to be notified. Their communication is so poor.

 

They have to cancel and resend the order so they don't make mistakes. I've never had them edit any of my orders either P:

As for canceling the order randomly, I'd chalk it up to Dell maybe sending the order to another factory because of volume constraints? I don't know, that's really weird.

That's not true. I've had order ETAs change after it was made. Almost all my Dell orders have had their ETAs changed actually-- usually for the better. They don't have to cancel it to change the ETA.

anyone else had their orders cancelled without notice with a new order number and ship date?

 

Yep. I ordered mine online on Oct. 28, and got an est. delivery date of November 22. My order was cancelled without notice some time in the last 2 days, no new order issued.

Called Dell today, was told a batch of orders got cancelled due to a "system error". Got a new order number, with a new shipping date of December 6.

Not impressed, but since this is the first issue I've ever had with a Dell order, I'm giving them a pass. I will be keeping a close eye on my second order, though...
