Ok guys, just hit the button on this new 24'' Dell HD monitor (got it on the deal of the day for $269) http://accessories.dell.com/sna/pro...l.aspx?c=ca&l=en&s=dhs&cs=cadhs1&sku=320-7345

ok so i was wondering, now that i have this coming, what would be the best way to connect my 1530 to it? hdmi? vga?

also, how would i do use the monitor so that my laptop screen remains turned off the whole time?

sorry im newb when it comes to electronics :(

HDMI by far! The picture is as smooth as glass. And go to monoprice.com for your HDMI cable. Thats one foot unless you need more.

u can either use nVidia's control panel, or rightclick on desktop-> Personalize -> Display Settings-> Click on one of the monitors and disable 'extend the desktop onto this monitor'

and monoprice is THE place to get cheap cables that work great... 1 feet might be a little short, recommend 3 feet

    ya

dont go to the local store(or even bestbuy)... it'll cost you more than double the cost at monoprice....

cool, i just got the monitor today :) 7 days after it was said it was shipped .. anyways

im setting it up as main display (1 display thru nVidea) have my laptop display turned off but the thing is when I do that, my desktop or my windows dont stick to that monitor, they are going off screen if i move them. what settings do i have to modify in order to work this out?

Try setting your new monitor as your primary as opposed to extending the desktop. On my old desktop, I had it connected to my television via s-video and could drag movies and such over onto the screen to watch them. There is a feature somewhere (I forget which one) that will clone your present desktop onto a separate monitor so that things won't go off the screen.

Mess around with the controls a bit.
