You spent all that money to upgrade to a T7600, Vista Ultimate, 4 gigs of RAM, and a 160gb 7200rpm drive and you only got a 1 year warranty? Could of saved a whole ton of money if you would of upgraded those parts yourself and just went with a more base config but I guess you'll have a top of the line stock system. How much did that one cost?

Oh man....... Blue Ray , 4GB, T7600, all of which are unnecessary upgrades. I’m sure you could have bought that system with a good configuration for half the price.

T7600 over T7200 is not worth the price difference in most cases. You can easily upgrade RAM yourself; it is so easy even a 12 year old can do it. Blue Ray is not yet widely available nor has proven to be the industry leader over HDDVD yet. If you waited a while you may have gotten a BR drive for a much lesser price. Finally the Santa Rosa and DX10 graphic cards.

If I were you, I’d rightaway cancel the order. You are overpaying for a system that is going to be obsolete soon.

Sounds mean, but yeah. You're not getting a lot of bang for you buck.

On the other hand, if this is what you want, go for it. The innards of your laptop may not be super new, but with those specs the performance of your laptop won't get out of date any time soon.

Although you should definitely up the warranty.

    CANCEL!!!

and do the RAM upgrade YOURSELF. IT's not worth the $600 dollar freaking LOSS.

You could get 4 year complete care with that for $400, buy aftermarket 4G for $200, and try to install the RAM yourself and for any reason if you mess up, get complete care to get you a new system!!!

    OMG RETURN IT.

    DEAD SERIOUS

Must be 2400 pounds + whatever the Blu-Ray is. Certainly more expensive than you can get and still call it economically sound, but if you've always wanted a top-of-the-line machine it is going to cost a boatload of money. Whatever you decide to do, I'd definitely upgrade the warranty to 3 years, and maybe the accident coverage as well. The cost of this machine is certainly high enough to warrant those.

I think you should cancel it.
Santa Rosa decreases power consumption and buying a high-end DX9 GPU when DX10 has already come is a bad choice. If I were you, I would order the extra memory and Blu-ray later when it's needed and when the time is right.

If i was able to wait then i woud have got the new DX 10 but seeing as nobody knows when it is coming out i need this now! Also the 3 year support is something i may upgrade but thats another £300+ for 3 years which i think ive spent enough as it is on just getting the system!

Also the G processor wasnt available as an upgrade.

DX 10 cards are already out!. 8400M 8600M and 8700M are already on the market. IMO 8800M or whatever Go7900 series replacement will be released very soon too. For a high end expensive gaming machine you should have waited a little longer, now is the worst possible time to buy one.

    Duh...

You can afford the warranty buy cutting out unnecessary things like Blue ray, T7700, 4GB RAM. That would save you TONS already.

and like I said, with the money you'll save, buy 4GB memory yourself and install it. If you mess up on ACCIDENT, that's what the warranty is there for.

Sigh... oh well. It's your money. Good luck either way.

You should upgrade you own memory ram. You can get it wayyyyyyy cheaper at the retail stores like best buy and fry's. I got 4gb (2x2) at fry's online store for less than $200. For the Hard Drive, you should get 80GB or 120GB for now. Hard Drive prices falls steeply as the months fly by. siiggnnn............. sign............ sign........... look at all that money going to waste on a machine dell is about to discontinue. You should wait.

You mentioned that third party memory ram sucks. Well, i can say the same for dell. They installed you "hynix" memory ram. These are the same one found on my sister's $500 compaq laptop. You believed dell would give you expensive ram like OCZ, or Corsair. Your wrong. I know this b/c my Latitude had "hynix" rams in them.

I have ordered similar configuration recently (only differences are in: 2 GB RAM, 2,16 proc). Now I am thinking about cancelling my order because of your advice and because Dell has sent me notice that my order will be delayed for next 8 days.

I am currently living in the UK but I’ve been here only for 1,5 moths so I don’t know local rules and regulation. How exactly should I do it if I’d like to cancel my order?

For future reference all bragging posts should be posted in 'The Official Post About Your New Dell Thead'. Since this one has some discussion going on I'll leave it open.

Thanks i must not have seen that!

I just found out that its being delayed by 1 and a half weeks making it 12/07/2007 now which is rather disappointing but it is a rather large order!

I would have liked to wait for the new one but i haven't got time to wait around im already behind in my work and my projects are mounting which will just make it worse!

And regarding the RAM, who knows maybe one day i might just decide to go up on the roof and surf the net or to test if i can get a better signal from the Wireless N card and the next thing i know its been it by 1.21 Jiga watts of lightning (BTTF)! Lol! :D
