Hi all,
Looking at ordering a XPS17 shortly but i see there might be issues with the wifi cards that come with Bluetooth, these being the Intel 1030 and 6230.
A few questions...![]()
Is the problem a known fact that there are problems with these 2 cards or is it just a handful of people having the issues?
Is it only a problem with bluetooth on and using the wifi?
I dont totally need Bluetooth (only use it to transfer over some pictures from my mobile phone to a laptop, i dont have a bluetooth mouse etc that would want to be connected all the time) so could go for the Intel 1000 card, i assume there is no real problems with this card?
Thanks for any help.

My XPS 15 has the 6230. It's been solid and fast for me.

My XPS 17 has the 1030 w/bluetooth and have never had 1 issue.

My XPS 15 has the 6230 and when I first received it the card was horrible, would drop connections and slow down to a crawl on resume from sleep. A recent driver update from Dell has fixed this, and I am now happy with the 6230.

Thanks, fills me with more confidence to order the 6230.

It's not an expensive option anyway. If at some point you decide you want a different card. I believe they're not that tough to remove and install.

This card has made my xps the fastest on the Internet of the six computers in the house.

After you get your XPS just make sure you update to the latest driver for your 6230. Mine works great and connects to N networks flawlessly.

no problem running a 6300 i get at least 4 bars 162mbps all over my house compared to the 1030 that would get 1 or 2 24-36mbps
